Getting the right size ensures your strap fits perfectly. You need two measurements: your wrist circumference and your watch’s lug width.
Step 1 — Measure Your Wrist
Use a flexible tape measure, or a strip of paper and a ruler. Wrap it around your wrist just below the wrist bone, where you normally wear a watch, and note the measurement in millimetres.
| Wrist Size | Recommended Strap |
|---|---|
| Under 160mm | Short (S) |
| 160–180mm | Standard (M) — most common |
| 180–200mm | Long (L) |
| Over 200mm | Extra Long (XL) |
Standard strap length is 125mm (long piece) + 75mm (short piece) = 200mm total.
Step 2 — Measure Your Lug Width
The lug width is the distance between the two lugs where the strap attaches to your watch case. Measure the gap with a caliper or ruler and round to the nearest even number (most straps come in 18, 20, 22, 24, 26mm).
| Watch Brand / Model | Lug Width |
|---|---|
| Apple Watch 38/40/41mm | 38/40/41mm band |
| Apple Watch 42/44/45mm | 42/44/45mm band |
| Panerai (most models) | 24mm |
| Panerai (large models) | 26mm |
| Bell & Ross BR01/BR03 | 24mm |
| IWC Pilot / Portofino | 20mm |
| IWC Big Pilot | 22mm |
| Rolex Submariner / Datejust | 20mm |
| Omega Seamaster | 20mm |
| Audemars Piguet Royal Oak | 20mm |
| SevenFriday | 28mm |
